Meet the Captain
Capt. Orlando "Orly" Muniz
Capt. Orlando "Orly" Muniz is the founder of Nomad Fishing Charters, and he discovered his passion for fishing at an early age. Growing up in Miami gave him endless opportunities to chase that love. He worked his way up from shore fishing for a wide range of species to party boat trips that put him on kingfish and mahi-mahi.
In the early 90s, Orly learned live bait and kite fishing for sailfish, tuna, and wahoo - the techniques that would come to define the way he fishes Miami's waters today. That experience inspired him to become one of the best fishing guides in the city.
After graduating from Barry University with an education degree, Orly earned his captain's license in 2006 and established Nomad Fishing Charters in Miami. With more than 30 years on the water, he combines his teaching background with deep fishing knowledge to educate clients about local fisheries and techniques, no matter their skill level. Our Boat
The "Nomad" - a Custom 28' Whitewater
The Nomad is a custom-built 28-foot Whitewater open fisherman in the classic Key West style, designed to fish Miami's bay, reef, and offshore water in comfort. Repowered with twin Suzuki 200 HP four-stroke outboards in 2024, she cruises fast and reaches the Gulf Stream in minutes.
A 250-gallon fuel capacity gives us the range to chase the bite wherever it sets up, while two large livewells keep bait frisky all day for our kite and live bait trips. Whatever you book, you fish premium gear off a boat that is rigged and ready.

Capt. Orly earned his United States Coast Guard captain's license in 2006 and founded Nomad Fishing Charters. Every trip runs with all USCG-required safety equipment aboard.
