Fishing Hollywood

Charters for Hollywood Anglers

Hollywood sits right in the middle of South Florida's best fishing, on the coast between Fort Lauderdale and the Miami-Dade line. The Gulf Stream runs close to the beach here, and the Intracoastal threads inshore structure the length of the city. Anglers fish with Capt. Orly aboard the Nomad out of Dinner Key Marina, a straight run down the coast, and we work the continuous water that connects Hollywood to Miami.

The draw here is how close the blue water sits to the beach. A short run out puts you on the reef edge and the Gulf Stream, where sailfish stack up along the reef in winter and mahi push through in the warmer months. When the wind and current line up we fly baits from kites on our live bait and kite fishing trips. When the fish are scattered we cover water and chase the birds on a run and gun.

Inshore holds its own along the whole coast. The Intracoastal, the inlets, and the bridge shadows hold snook, tarpon, and jacks that ambush bait on the moving tide. We break down how to target them in our guide to a tarpon and snook inshore charter, which fishes the same pattern up and down this stretch.

The bottom fishing rounds out the day. Reefs and artificial wrecks hold mutton and yellowtail snapper, grouper, and amberjack year-round. A drop of vertical jigging over the wrecks bends the rod hard, and that steady structure fishing is forgiving enough for mixed groups. Whether you want the offshore hunt or a calm inshore morning, look over the charter rates and trip options and we will match the day to the fish.

Conditions Off Hollywood

Fishing off Hollywood shares the coast's wind-against-current problem. A northeast wind blowing over the north-flowing Gulf Stream stands the reef edge up into a short, steep chop, and the offshore run gets uncomfortable on those days. When that happens we fish the lee or move inside to the Intracoastal, where the snook and tarpon keep eating in protected water.

Summer brings the other constant. Afternoon thunderstorms build off the Everglades and drift east, so we push departures early to fish the calm morning hours. Reading the tide and the forecast is most of the job, and it is the part worth handing to a crew that runs this water every week.

The payoff is a fishery with a plan for every condition. When the ocean is rough the wreck and bottom fishing stays dependable and the inshore bite keeps going.

Hollywood sits between two markets we already fish hard. Anglers to the north can read how we run Fort Lauderdale charters, and those heading south fish the same water down through Sunny Isles Beach. Reach out to book a Hollywood charter and we will time the day to the water.

What Anglers Say

"My 3 sons and I had a terrific outing with Captain Danny. The communication before our trip was fantastic, with Captain Orly answering questions about the weather, what to bring and what to wear. We caught something at pretty much every stop and everybody got fish. Highly recommend this trip!"

"Thanks to our captain, Arty, for the best possible experience fishing in Miami! He was extremely helpful and hands-on, highly knowledgeable and an expert at what he does. We said we wanted action, and Arty went above and beyond. One of the best charters we've done. We'll always book with Orlando and Arty going forward."

Tracy Do, Texas

"What a great first experience! It's evident this crew comes with decades of experience. A VERY hard working captain who works with all different levels of experience and is very patient. They also filet the fish we caught. Looking forward to booking another trip."
