Fishing Coconut Grove
Charters for Coconut Grove Anglers
Coconut Grove is where the Nomad lives. The Grove's bayfront waterfront and Dinner Key Marina are our home dock, so for anglers here the boat is right around the corner and the fishing starts the moment we clear the no-wake zone. No place in Miami puts you closer to the start of a great day on the water.
Sitting right on Biscayne Bay, Coconut Grove offers about the easiest access to South Florida's fishery you will find. From Dinner Key we are on the bay flats in minutes, working the grass and channels for snook, jacks, and the small tarpon that cruise the mangrove edges. That quick start matters, especially on a half-day charter where every minute on the water counts.
The Grove's location also lines up well for the offshore run. Head east across the bay, slip out past the markers, and the reef and Gulf Stream open up for sailfish, mahi, and kingfish. Because we leave from the bay rather than fighting a crowded inlet, the run out is smooth and direct, and we can adjust on the fly if the fish move.
This is also the launch point for our easygoing trips. The protected bay water close to the Grove is perfect for introducing kids to the sport, so our kids fishing trips almost always start with steady bay action before deciding whether to push out. When the group wants more, we step up to run and gun fishing on the schools or drop on the reef patches for snapper.
Capt. Orly grew up fishing these waters and has worked them for 30 years. Starting and ending every trip at Dinner Key means we know this corner of the bay better than anywhere, from the best early-morning flats to the channels that fish well on an outgoing tide.

Local Knowledge
Conditions Off Coconut Grove
The main thing to know about fishing out of Coconut Grove is the bay itself. The water in close is shallow and grassy, with marked channels that you have to follow to move efficiently. We know these channels cold, so we get to the productive flats and out to the deeper water without wasting time or risking the grass.
Weather shapes every Grove trip. Summer mornings are usually glassy and beautiful, but thunderstorms build over the Everglades and roll east by early afternoon, so we push departures early to fish the calm window. Winter brings the wind-against-current chop on the reef edge, and on those days we keep the day inside on the bay or tuck behind Key Biscayne for protected water.
Weekend boat traffic on the bay near the marina can get busy, so we time our runs to stay clear of the crowds and keep the fishing relaxed. The upside of departing from the Grove is hard to beat - no inlet to fight, smooth water out of the gate, and quick access to flats, reef, and blue water. When the offshore is rough, the bottom and wreck fishing stays steady. Book your Coconut Grove charter and we will have the Nomad ready at Dinner Key.

What Anglers Say
"My 3 sons and I had a terrific outing with Captain Danny. The communication before our trip was fantastic, with Captain Orly answering questions about the weather, what to bring and what to wear. We caught something at pretty much every stop and everybody got fish. Highly recommend this trip!"

"Thanks to our captain, Arty, for the best possible experience fishing in Miami! He was extremely helpful and hands-on, highly knowledgeable and an expert at what he does. We said we wanted action, and Arty went above and beyond. One of the best charters we've done. We'll always book with Orlando and Arty going forward."
