Doral sits inland in northwest Miami-Dade, a quick drive from Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic beyond it. There is no dock in Doral, but the water that matters is a short trip away. Anglers here fish with Capt. Orly aboard the Nomad out of Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove, an easy drive south to meet the boat.
The inshore fishing is the easy sell for a Doral crew. Biscayne Bay, the flats, and the bridge shadows hold snook, tarpon, and hard-pulling jack crevalle that eat on the moving tide. That protected water stays calm and forgiving, which makes it a great fit for a family fishing trip.
Offshore is a short run past the markers. The Gulf Stream pushes sailfish in the winter and mahi through the warmer months, and we troll a spread or fly live baits from kites on our live bait and kite fishing trips. The blue water sits close enough to the dock that a half-day trip can still reach it.

The main thing to plan for from Doral is the drive, not the fishing. Dinner Key Marina is a straight shot down the Palmetto and the bay, so we set a departure time that gives the crew room to arrive relaxed. Once you are on the boat, the water does the rest.
The weather calls the shots after that. A northeast wind over the Gulf Stream can stand the reef up, and on those days we fish the protected bay for snook, tarpon, and jacks instead. There is almost always fishable water somewhere close.
Summer adds afternoon storms that build off the Everglades, so we push departures early to fish the calm hours. That early start is easy to make from Doral with a short drive.
