Yes. The Gulf Stream runs close to this whole stretch of coast, and mahi live in it.
You do not need a hundred mile run to find them. On a good day the first fish comes tight not long after the boat gets on plane.
The catch is that mahi are nomads. They are not sitting on a reef waiting for you. Finding them is most of the job.
When They Actually Run
April through August is the window, and late spring into early summer is the sweet spot.
That is when the water warms, the weed lines set up, and the schools push through in numbers. Some days you find one fish. Some days you find fifty.

Finding Them Is the Whole Game
You are not fishing a spot. You are reading the ocean.
Weed lines, floating debris, color changes, and current edges all hold bait, and bait holds mahi. A stray pallet in the blue water can be the best structure of the day.

Then It Gets Loud

Live pilchards, ballyhoo, and lures all work. Mahi are rarely picky. They are moving fast and looking for calories.
